About the Employer
Hope City Church is a church in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. We are a college town (University of Alabama) of about 120,000 souls. We are gospel-centered, spirit-filled, and missional. Meaning, we see the entire bible centered upon Christ, his redemptive work being displayed creation, the Fall, Redemption, and ultimately, Restoration. Jesus Christ is the one and only focus of our preaching. Our goal is not to become better people but to continually look to Christ as our only hope in Salvation.
We are a very welcoming community that prioritizes hospitality. Gospel community and helping others walk deeply with one another is paramount in our mission as believers. We do this by cultivating a small group culture and investing in one-on-one discipleship relationships.
On a Sunday we have around 250-300 people worshiping together (kids included). We are fairly diverse in age and ethnicity. Our worship services last around 80 minutes and include 25-30 minutes of singing and 35-40 minutes of preaching, followed by prayer time. While our lead pastor is Reformed in theology, we do not use that language on a weekend. In fact, many of those who call Hope City their home come from other traditions (non-reformed and Arminian). For that reason, we keep our liturgy rooted in common language, but always anchored in the Bible.
We have a team of elders (non-vocational pastors), paid pastors, and team leaders that cultivate this community.
